bicycle second line

This last Saturday I went on a long, slow, but fun group bike ride called a "Bicycle Second Line." It had a band and was partly educational - it even included a fellow from the Nagin administration, Ed Blakely. We talked about Holy Cross recovery and green building as well as the Lafitte Corridor and it's future plans (there will be a greenway and bicycle/pedestrian path from Delgado Community College to Louis Armstrong park).

Here's Ed Blakely next a fellow talking about a Holy Cross recovery organization.

Here's some of the group crossing the St. Claude bridge into the lower 9th ward.

This is our band, that was playing for most of the way. Good music, brass band, at times almost klezmer-like to my ears.

One of our police escorts helping us cross Broad St. near a pump station.

I am actually doing a squinty smile here. See the sun on the helmet? I now have three racing stripes on my bald head.
