As much as I like writing, I think it's time for a photo essay. We've had a lot of fun recently, so have a peek into our lives.

I did a ton of cookie baking before we went to Florida. I tried to teach myself how to make the traditional German Christmas cookies my mother always makes. I had moderate success. Next year I will start earlier than the week before Christmas!
Kyle grew sprouts. What a healthy guy.

And more baking. Mmm, Cinnamon Stars....

On the way home, we decided to take the scenic route along Florida's Forgotten Coast (as they call it). We got an early start and took a break at the beach.
For lunch, we stopped at an oyster bar. We managed to find a place off the tourist path and we were treated like royalty! They shuck the oysters right in front of you.
Then they put the oyster on your plate and you eat it raw with a saltine cracker. It tasted like the Gulf. There was also this really good horseradish sauce to put on them. Soooo goooood. When the people pictured above found out we never had oysters, they showered us with oysters in almost all the ways they prepare them: raw, baked with butter and Parmesan cheese, and "loaded". The loaded one was ridiculous! They are baked with butter, Parmesan cheese, cheddar cheese, one other kind of cheese, jalapeno peppers, and bacon. Wow.
Then we drove some more.
We found another beach and decided to get out feet wet. I tried not to get my skirt wet, but after a while, I just gave in to the beating waves.
Kyle tried to stop the waves from coming in, but with little success. He is such a gentleman.
More driving. Then we quick dropped our stuff off at home and went to see Helen play. This is my favorite picture of her.

My camera does funny things in the dark. It looks like the music is starting to wrap itself around her. Or maybe it's flowing from her. In any case, this photo rocks, if I do say so myself. Toot toot!
Happy New Year, everyone!
